First off for those of you that were unable to attend the Ottawa game Tues we won! It's always nice to start the season out with a "W". The first half Erica Ferguson was unstoppable, inside or out they didn't have an answer for her. She scored 18 points in the first half giving the team a huge spark. We transitioned well and got some easy buckets with the help of senior point gaurd Jess Stewart pushing the ball up the floor. Senior Hillary Adams got hot second half knocking down her famous treys that we all love to watch go in. The final score was 91-61 in our favor. I would say a 30 point win, 4 players scoring in double figures (Erica Ferguson 24, Hillary Adams 18, Katie Bond 13, Brandie Roberts 12), a GIANT 56 POINTS in the paint and 24 points coming from bench is a great way to kick start the season. There is still work to be done, but a great start nonetheless. 1-0!
Tonight it's time to bring out the BIG GUNS! We play Oklahoma Baptist University at Baker at 5:30 pm (Baldwin City,KS). OBU is currently ranked 3rd in the Nation and returning 2 starters, one of which was the Sooner Conference player of the year and 4 DI transfers this year, as well as loads of talent off the bench from last year. This will be a great challenge for for our team, one that they are ready for and starring right in the face. Today will be a battle for sure but don't count us out we're ready to work hard and tackle the giant! We hope to see you all there!
What a great day to be a Cardinal!
