Two tough loses but bouncing back

The past week and a half has been humbling for us. We took on Baker last Thursday and lost 60-62. The game was back and forth the entire game. We shot 33% for the game, 4-23 from behind the arch and only 20-28 from the cherry stripe...not yout typical Lady Cardinal performance on the offensive end. If anything we learned that when shots aren't falling we've got to dig deeper defensively and make better decisions with the ball. We have and open look at the basket with only 3 seconds left on the clock, unfortunately it didn't fall so we had no chance at over time and Baker won by 2 points. It's always tough to lost what was a very capabale game to be won especially at home...but an eye opener.
Saturday we traveled to Avila where we hoped for a better performance and outcome. We had high hopes but again we fell short losing 63-64 to a banked in 3 pointer by Avila...ouch! What hurt even more is Jessica Stewart made a half court shot right after the buzzer which would have put us up 1 to win it...the inrony of it all! Defensively we didn't play well together and again made key mistakes. We had open looks at the basket in the end but couldn't connect on any of them. If we didn't feel bad enough after Thursday's loss we did after this one. It's always touch to lose but even more tough when you know you had opportunities to win the game. So what do we do now? ...we bounce back!!! We have another battle ahead of us against Evangel tomorrow night at home. Another top team in conference comes in to our house trying to take us down but we ready and we'll respond as a team. We've been working hard in practice and taking time to reflect on some things that we could have done differently in the previous games. We feel the losses but we aren't dwelling on them...great teams bounce back and get ready to play and we're doing just that.
We hope to see you all at the game tomorrow night and we thank you for all your support! The women's game starts at 5:30 with the men's game to follow at 7:30; both will be great battles to watch!

It's a great day to be a Cardinal!
